About the Name:
The Apostle Paul makes it clear in Philippians 3 that he has not yet apprehended. Thayer’s Lexicon defines the Greek word katalambanō (translated as ‘apprehend’ in some places) as to lay hold of so as to make ones own, to obtain, attain to. My goal in life, as Paul’s was, is to apprehend what God has for me, to keep striving for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
So I make dual use of the name. I am leading a life in which I am trying to apprehend (i.e., understand), and while doing so, I am apprehending life itself, in a carpe diem sense.
About Me:
I have been a Christian for over 30 years. I decided long ago that the Word of God would be the final arbiter for all that I believe. I would rather conform to the Bible than try to find verses to support what I want to do or believe.
About the Site:
The site was created to share some of what I have learned with others. I looked into using a free blog but found out that there are two basic types. On one type, you can control the advertising, but you don’t own your content. On the other, you own the content but can’t control the advertising. I decided on using a paid website hosting service so I own a content and have total control over the advertising – which is none. If you blog or want to blog, be sure to read the terms of use. There is no such thing as “free” and you may be surprised.
Unless otherwise stated, everything on the site is an original work and protected by copyright. Or at least as far as copyright law is concerned. The truth is, there is nothing new under the sun and any understanding or wisdom I have comes from God. Having said that, anything you find here can be used to propagate the Gospel or disciple people, as long as it is for prophet and not for profit.
